Anna Barlow-Harris (pronouns: she/her) MS, CNM, WHNP-BC started at NWWC on July 8th, 2021. In 2018, while participating in her midwifery education, she trained at NWWC, so working here now is truly a pleasure and feels natural. Anna graduated from Georgetown University in May of 2020 in the first months of the Covid-19 pandemic. During that time, she was also in her first trimester of pregnancy with her first baby, which drove her to take some time off following her graduation from Georgetown to spend some quality time with the newest member of her growing family.
Anna obtained her BSN from the University of Portland and became a Registered Nurse in 2016. She worked at Providence St Vincent Medical Center for 3 years while in graduate school. Midwifery called to Anna when she learned about the philosophy of midwives and the unparalleled level of care they provide for pregnant people. She is very passionate about relationship-based care and believes that it is crucial to foster trust and safety in the clinical setting. She strongly believes in informed consent, shared decision-making, and bodily autonomy, and provides care through a trauma-informed lens. She believes that you know your body better than anyone else and are therefore the best person to make decisions about your healthcare. She sees you as equal partners in a collaborative effort to maintain and optimize your health.
Anna provides care for women, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals in the areas of pregnancy, gynecologic, sexual, and reproductive services. She is focused on promoting your health, preventing disease, and individualizing care to meet your needs. She absolutely loves getting to know her patients on a personal level and welcomes anyone who shares these values to come meet her at NWWC!
In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts about the birth world, going on long walks with her husband and Corgi, drawing, painting, drinking coffee, and singing/dancing with her vivacious daughter, Clementine and new son Theo. She hopes to eventually get back to concerts and traveling, and even has an aspiration to join a rec league basketball team in Portland alongside her husband.
***Anna will be on family leave from May 11th, 2023 through November 26th, 2023. She would love for you to see a partnered midwife during her leave to continue caring for your medical needs.***
