In a heartfelt letter to his patients, Dr. deCastro shared his thoughts on his retirement and reflected on his career:
To my wonderful patients,
I am writing to you today to announce my retirement from medical practice. After 35 years of practice at Northwest Women’s Clinic and 43 years since I first put on a white coat as a ‘doctor in training’ I have decided to close the book on a fantastic medical adventure.
I, of course, will miss the joy, challenges, and fulfillment that has been a part of all those years. I will miss my partners, colleagues, and the staff both at my office and the hospitals where I have spent countless hours. Truly, what I will miss most is you, my patients. It has been my honor to spend time with you, to share in your happiness and sorrows and hopefully to have been of service to you and your families.
I am looking forward to the years ahead and all those hours to call my own. Raising my family, practicing my best medicine, and forging good relations with you, my patients has been my “bucket list.”
Some of you I may see before my last day of December 31st, 2024. Others I will not. Please know that I will carry memories of you all with me. There is not a more dedicated and talented group of doctors than my partners at NWWC. Your medical records will remain there. I have the sincerest confidence that you will be well treated and cared for by them and encourage you all to make your next appointments as usual.
So, with a happy heart I wish you all the absolute best and thank you for the grace you have shown me.
Most Sincerely,
Roberto M. deCastro, M.D.
